Love at First Cut: Famed “Master Shredder” Adam Saaks made his mark on Abu Dhabi

Spectators witnessed the shear genius live in action at The Galleria on Al Maryah Island on the 26th and 27th of September   Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 28th September: The famous fashion designer and t-shirt cutting extraordinaire, Adam Saaks, enthralled audiences at The Galleria on Al Maryah Island last weekend with his superior scissor skills and contemporary designs, as he performed live to the crowds in the heart of the property.   With a legion of fans including celebrities such as Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Shakira and Eminem, Adam “Scissor Hands” Saaks hosts eye-catching performances all across the world and selected the UAE capital to be the latest city to be amazed by his ingenious ability.   Armed with only his scissors, Adam used precision cuts and his signature laddering technique to spontaneously create a number of one-of-a-kind t-shirts.   Charles Martinez, General Manager of The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, and VP of Gulf Related mentioned: “Our decision to host Adam Saaks at The Galleria on Al Maryah Island was inspired by Abu Dhabi’s prominent interest in fashion. THE GALLERIA ON AL MARYAH ISLAND WELCOMES FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO JOIN EID AL ADHA CELEBRATIONS

The National Geographic Abu Dhabi’s “Moments” Exhibition will be showcased throughout The Galleria on Al Maryah Island from October 1st to 7th   Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 17th September: Honoring the occasion of Eid Al Adha, The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi’s premier shopping and dining destination, will be hosting a number of entertaining, creative and family-friendly festivities from 1st to 7th October.   As part of its mission to support Abu Dhabi’s bustling arts scene, The Galleria on Al Maryah Island will be hosting between October 1st and 7th “Moments”, a photo exhibition created by National Geographic Abu Dhabi and Almarai company as part of the 2014 National Geographic Abu Dhabi Moments Awards.  Photographers from across the Middle East and North Africa were invited earlier this year to submit their images under the ‘Story of Faces and Arabic Crafts’ theme. The result is an artistic display which celebrates the richness of color that can be found throughout the Arab region, particularly the vibrant hues that have inspired the skills of the region’s craftsmen. From the nimble hands of a weaver, to the glowing face of a lantern maker and the delicate craft of a glassblower, there is color and skill alike to be found in abundance across the Arab world.   From October 4th to 6th between 6pm – 10pm, The Galleria on Al Maryah Island will also be bursting with an assortment of art-inspired entertainment throughout the property to ensure all visitors experience a memorable celebration with their friends and family during Eid Al Adha.   A unique silhouette artist, showcasing a rare but highly prized form of art, will create memorable portraits for guests to take home as a keepsake. FBMI “Weaving for a Brighter Future” in collaboration with Norma Kamali now on display at The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi

Award-winning New York designer launches collection of handmade carpets to spotlight the plight of Afghan women. Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 14th September: UAE-based FBMI - the Fatema Bint Mohammed bin Zayed Initiative - is proud to announce its collaborative venture with internationally renowned designer Norma Kamal now on display at The Galleria on Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi until October 31st 2014. The collection of 12 handmade carpets are designed to draw focus on the plight of Afghan women and to give them an opportunity for employment and empowerment. On the empowerment carpets, Norma Kamali said: “I am honored to be a part of this wonderful opportunity to design a commercial product for the global market created by the women of Afghanistan.
